Berkeley's On Fire will be released in February.
SWMRS co-frontman Cole Becker has given Kerrang! the lowdown on their forthcoming album, Berkeley's On Fire.
Cole says that the Californian four-piece put all worries about the dreaded 'sophomore slump' while they were in the studio with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters).
"If we were in a sophomore slump we would know," he tells Kerrang!. "I’m gonna be super-braggadocios right now: Max [Becker, co-frontman] and I would be biking home from the studio every night and saying to each other, ‘We’re making the greatest album we will have ever heard!’ And that’s not to say that we’re better than everyone else, but I know we’re at our own personal best, and we’re doing the absolute best work that we will ever do, which I’m really excited about."
“We were spending six hours just trying to find a guitar tone, and I’d have such a bad headache afterwards," he adds of the lengths the band went in the studio. "I’m not detail orientated, but I think Max and Joey [Armstrong, drums] really are, so for me, I was definitely learning a new skill ofhaving patience for getting these details that I wouldn’t have thought were important. We had two and a half months in the studio, so we made everything the best it could be. That’s a really rewarding feeling now listening back, and knowing that there’s no other way that we could have done it, because that was the way we found after exhaustive research.”
