Khanate will play their first show in 19 years at Roadburn 2024
Reunited post-doom legends Khanate are the first act announced for Netherlands mega-fest Roadburn. And they’re re-releasing their first two albums…
Robed drone squad Sunn O))) have gone back to a two-piece. Hear sprawling new single Glory Black now.
U.S. drone legends Sunn O))) have revealed that they'll be dropping their new, self-titled 10th album on April 3, their first for legendary Seattle label Sub Pop. Like with last year's Eternity's Pillars release, it finds the robed band returning to its core original duo Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson.
Recorded in Bear Creek Studios in Washington State, the rural surrounds allowed the pair to get lost in what they were working on.
“The vast tracking room had big windows looking out on trees,” says Stephen. “We could go hiking and be out in the woods, spend time outdoors. That became a big part of it.”
“It was very inviting and very comfortable there,” adds Greg. “There was no stress, no worry about the timeline or anything like that. We just let ourselves go, and let the music come out. What’s been happening with our performances over the last couple years with the two of us and no other collaborators has been really fresh and exciting.”
Have a listen to the ultra-heavy (and surprisingly catchy) opening throw, Glory Black now.
