Social Distortion have confirmed their first new album in 15 years.

The follow-up to 2011’s Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes, Born To Kill is due out on May 8 via Epitaph, and is described in a press release as ‘11 songs of pure, unadulterated rock’n’roll fury, joy and catharsis’. It comes after frontman Mike Ness’ 2023 battle with Stage 1 tonsil cancer – something that has been captured in the band’s newly-released The Road To Born To Kill short documentary, which you can watch below.

Speaking with Rolling Stone about his health now and getting back in the saddle with Social D, the vocalist reflects: “It was amazing to have gone through what I did and be working again in less than a year. I think our tour started in April, and I was at my kid’s house in November before that, and just finished treatments. I told my kids that if I’m singing by April, it’ll be a freaking miracle because I still feel like shit. I’m still in a lot of discomfort. I’m still having trouble eating and speaking, but man, when it came around, and we hit the first chord at rehearsal, I was like, ‘Okay, I know how to do this.’”
