Album review: Sløtface – Film Buff
Norwegian punk favourites Sløtface deliver cathartic fun on new LP, Film Buff.
Listen to Beta and Come Hell Or Whatever, the new double A-side from Sløtface (now lead solely by Haley Shea, with Lasse and Tor-Arne having left the fold).
Sløtface are back! And they're now a solo project lead by vocalist Haley Shea, with Lasse and Tor-Arne having amicably left the Norwegian pop-punks.
The sound is clearly all-new, too, with Haley sharing genre-defying double A-side single Beta and Come Hell Or Whatever as the first taste of new music.
Of the former, Haley says: "Beta was the very first song Mikhael [Paskalev, songwriter and producer] and I worked on together in his studio. It should be listened to while wearing sunglasses, even on cloudy days!
"The song is about wanting to connect with people on a deeper level, but feeling like social media sometimes gets in the way, with things becoming somewhat intimidating, shallow and superficial. The song is a confidence booster for myself where I’m trying to be cooler than I am. It was written at a time when I really, really missed the rush of playing live, and I needed to find some of that spark and edge in myself that only really comes out onstage."
