Fresh from wrapping up a summer of European shows, Slipknot have started teasing something.

The Iowa metal heroes are beginning to get all mysterious on us once again, with the website 742617000027.net launching and presenting fans with the message ‘Worse forwards than backwards’ and a text box.

Naturally, we’re in 2025 and the diehards are incredibly savvy, and have worked out a code to type into said text box: comeplaydying. Once you do that, a warning pops up that there’s an ‘Intrusion detected’, and that, ‘You are being observed. By continuing, you consent to: Your actions being tracked, Your data being harvested, And your identity being marked for future contact. You also agree to immediate ownership and full responsibility for the contents of the box – should it find you.’

In very Slipknot style, if you don’t type in the correct passcode, you’re instead greeted with the response: ‘You have nothing to contribute so stay the fuck out.’

Anyway, typing in comeplaydying takes you to the page 742617000027.net/1-9-9-9/, with a throwback photo of the band and a countdown that finishes on July 21. Given the aesthetics and the link, it all seems to be pointing to more self-titled album celebrations – perhaps a reissue of the record, given they’ve already toured heavily in support of its 25th anniversary?
