Signature Brew launch Beer Grants scheme to help support independent venues

As we all know, the past 12 months have been terrible for venues. Some have closed, others like London’s Black Heart have had to raise eye-watering amounts of cash through crowdfunding just to be able to… stay shut for a bit longer.

Now, music-loving London brewery Signature Brew have put together a Beer Grants scheme, in which they’re giving away £250,000 of beer to help support struggling venues. With grants from £500 to £5,000 worth of their Studio Lager available, independent venues across the UK will be able to apply directly for the package. Touring bands can also apply to get beer to help cover some of their overheads.

"We’re passionate about live music and we’re going to help independent venues and musicians however we can,” says co-founder Sam McGregor. “The idea for the Beer Grant scheme came from wanting to offer the thing we do best as a way to make life easier for venues and touring bands after an unprecedentedly difficult year. We want to help as many venues as possible and we believe the Signature Brew Beer Grant will contribute to safeguarding the future of the UK’s music scene.”

As well as hosting socially distanced shows at their home in North London, Signature Brew have also supported music during COVID by employing out-of-work road crew as delivery drivers. In August, they’ll mark their 10th birthday with a 10-day extravaganza of live music.
