If you like to gamble... why not try this Motörhead lyrics quiz?
In the 1994 movie Airheads, unsuccessful band turned hostage takers The Lone Rangers test whether someone who purports to be a rock fan is really an undercover cop by asking him who’d win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God. It’s a trick question because, of course, Lemmy is God.
Despite the iconic status of the tragically departed frontman, Motörhead weren’t as well known for their songs (beyond, obviously, Ace Of Spades, one of rock’s best-known songs and part of the best-ever episode of The Young Ones) as they were for their indefatigability, dedication to the rock’n’roll lifestyle and perceived smelliness. However, beneath the hard boozing, hard living, everything-snorting and general depravity, there was a genuinely impressive body of work – either they worked harder at songwriting than they pretended to do, or they were incredibly talented.
Either way, were you paying enough attention to the words?
