Puddle Of Mudd Announce First Album In 10 Years, Release New Single

It's been a rocky road for alt rockers Puddle Of Mudd, and particularly frontman Wes Scantlin, over the past ten years. Wes has dealt with addiction and trouble with the law, resulting in multiple arrests, missed court dates, and more. But now, the band have announced that they'll be releasing their first new album in ten years this September, and have dropped a new single in preparation for its release.

The album is called Welcome To Galvania; the cover features a line defining the word as 'adjective - a change in the electrical resistance of the skin' (think of the word 'galvanized'). The first single, Uh Oh, seems to dwell on Wes' recents hard times, with lyrics about him getting in trouble, not remembering where he's been or what he's said, and a chorus proclaiming, "Uh oh, I fucked it up again." The song's tone is a little more pop rock than Puddle Of Mudd's previous work, smacking heavily of the music of artists like Butch Walker, rather than, say, Staind.

Puddle Of Mudd's Welcome To Galvania drops September 13th via Pavement Entertainment, and is available for preorder.

Last July, Wes announced in a video interview that he was almost a year sober, saying, "The last year has been...Getting out of incarceration and then going to CRI-Help in Burbank, California, in North Hollywood, that was awesome — it was really great. I’m 11 months sober now almost to the day, and I feel great. And we’re just playing shows and rocking.”

Meanwhile, Puddle Of Mudd have also seen a resurgence in popularity among younger artists. Emo rapper Blossom Reynolds did a haunting cover of the band's huge single She Hates Me. "'She hates me, I tried too hard and she tore my feelings like I had none’ is pretty sad," said Reynolds of the original. "I was already in talks with sorrow bringer from Ukraine about collabing on a song, then I heard this beat while I had the She Hates Me lyrics on my mind and it all just came together.”
