Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell says he "will see you at Lollapalooza… soon!"
Perry Farrell has shared some fantastic personal and professional news: in a double update over the weekend, the Jane's Addiction frontman announced that he'd had his COVID vaccine, and hinted that his iconic touring festival Lollapalooza would be returning "soon".
In a short video posted to Twitter, Perry proudly showed off confirmation of his COVID vaccine – "I hold in my hands my licence to party!" he said – while also telling fans, "I will see you at Lollapalooza… soon!"
While the 2020 edition of Lollapalooza was of course cancelled, dates for a potential 2021 festival have not yet been revealed. When the cancellation was announced in June, the festival team said in a statement, "Rest assured, we will be working hard behind the scenes to deliver Chicago a spectacular celebration of Lollapalooza’s 30th anniversary in the summer of 2021, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you."

Speaking to Kerrang! last year about how live music will survive the pandemic, Perry enthused, "I believe live music will weather the storm because it’s all about adapting. A week before I was supposed to go out with Satellite Party, I went back to speak to the record company because I hadn’t heard from them and there were tumbleweeds in the parking lot and locks on the doors. Nobody had told me they’d bailed out of town. It was not a stillborn, though, because I got on a bus and went out and performed what I could until I ran out of the money I was sinking into it, just to have the privilege of performing in front of people. I did it again with Kind Heaven… I lost so much money that my wife was mad at me.
"Live music will endure, and I want to put together the best party to make people happy and entertain them. It doesn’t always have to be a gigantic spectacle either. If you put together a quality gathering, it guarantees you eternity.”
Perry also said in November last year that Jane's Addiction would be releasing new music in 2021.
He said the focus would be on "songs" rather than an album, teasing, "We’ve got so much Jane’s material in the can. We’ll be releasing a couple of tracks, maybe writing some new ones. Not this year, ’cause we’re getting late in the year. But I can tell you in the next month or so I’m gonna be finishing up a couple of Jane’s Addiction tracks.”
