The 50 best albums of 2022
The Kerrang! verdict on the 50 albums that shaped 2022.
The Behemoth frontman offers his thoughts on John Allen Chau, who was killed by tribespeople the North Sentinel island on November 17.
Behemoth frontman Nergal has suggested that the death of missionary John Allen Chau was brought upon himself as he visited the remote North Sentinel island to spread the word of Christianity.
Chau was killed by an indigenous tribe with a "hail of arrows" as he attempted to convert the neolithic tribe to his religion. It is a criminal offence to travel within three miles of the island and it is known that visitors are often met with hostility.
"Not that I’m happy when people die but hey… this idiot has asked for that, no?" writes Nergal on Facebook. "And now bunch of other idiots follow. Is stupidity naturally inbred in all monotheistic religions? I guess so… There’s a saying: 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes'…"
Behemoth's album I Loved You At Your Darkest is out now via Nuclear Blast.
