Disney release their official pop-punk covers album, A Whole New Sound
Hear the likes of Bowling For Soup, LØLØ, Yellowcard and Meet Me @ The Altar tackle Disney classics for a new pop-punk covers album.
Remember Lindsay Lohan’s fictional band Pink Slip from 2003 movie Freaky Friday? Meet Me @ The Altar have just covered their absolute banger Take Me Away!
Meet Me @ The Altar have thrown things back two decades with a cover of Pink Slip’s iconic hit Take Me Away.
The trio have tackled the 2003 banger played by Lindsay Lohan’s fictional band in Freaky Friday. And as MM@TA say, it’s not only a great tune, but the moment was also huge for “female representation in punk music” and in film.
“Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, Take Me Away, Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up,” the band say in a statement. “It’s everything we love all meshed into one – female representation in punk music, and on screen! Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.”
The cover is taken from the upcoming deluxe edition of Meet Me @ The Altar’s debut album Past // Present // Future, which is due out on September 29 via Fueled By Ramen.
