Album review: Halsey – The Great Impersonator
Halsey experiments and shapeshifts as she tells her most personal story yet on epic fifth album, The Great Impersonator
Following the big reveal for The Great Impersonator earlier this week, Halsey has just unveiled another single from the record: the ’90s-inspired Ego.
If you’ve watched the album trailer for The Great Impersonator, then you’ll have already heard a snippet of Ego. But today (September 6), Halsey has revealed her brilliant next single in full.
The ’90s-inspired tune – which is played in the background of the video trailer as Halsey asks about how things might have gone for them if she debuted as a musician in that decade – follows previous singles Lonely Is The Muse, Lucky and The End, and once again promises that The Great Impersonator really will contain a little bit of everything.
Earlier this week, Halsey shared that the album was created “in the space between life and death. And it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it. I’ll wait a bit longer. I’ve waited a decade, already.”
The record is due out on October 25 – but in the meantime, stream Ego below:
