Michigan alt/indie back Liquid Mike have just dropped a surprising new single, AT&T.

Taken from their forthcoming album Hell Is An Airport – which is due out on September 12 – it was, unbelievably, only added to the record’s tracklist with a week to go… “I think that’s why it’s my favourite song on the album – just felt like a spur of the moment happy accident,” admits vocalist/guitarist Mike Maple. He adds that it’s “super blown out with distorted drum break, record scratching, very few guitars and synth bass in favour of electric. Not exactly the palette we’re known for!”

As for its meaning, Mike reveals that AT&T was inspired by “an ugly break-up between someone very close to me and someone I had a lot of contempt for at the time. I wanted to confront him but I realised the way things were going, he was suffering enough. Just a lonely guy with no-one to talk to but himself and the bugs in the wall.”
