Lagwagon's new album Railer will be released in October
Longstanding California punks Lagwagon have announced details of their upcoming ninth album.
Due for release on Fat Wreck Chords on October 4, the follow-up to 2014's Hang is titled Railer.
Speaking about the album name, frontman Joey Cape explains it's “a funny word from childhood that means ‘silly bad’, like lame," and captures the throwback nature of the record's 12 tracks.
Along with the album announcement, Lagwagon have released new single Bubble.
“The idea of that song was to embrace and appreciate what you have,” says Joey. “I really specifically tried to make it feel and sound like an old Lagwagon song, so I borrowed a lot from early records for it. And then from there, I just kept thinking that the rules have to be that Railer feels like something Lagwagon might have done in the old days.
"I wanted to see what would happen if I didn’t overthink things and I just tried to write a record as quickly as possible without losing the quality I expect from myself as a songwriter.”
To celebrate the release of their ninth full-length record, Lagwagon are touring the UK and Europe this November. Tickets go on sale Wednesday July 31.
