Kid Bookie is back with new music!

As teased last summer when the London alt. star invited us into the studio, he’s dropped a brand-new single, Rose McGowan, featuring Rose McGowan.

Rose says of working with Bookie: “I chose Kid Bookie because the moment I heard him, I knew our collaboration would be electric. His DM to me in 2024 was direct and real, but hearing the track sealed it. His ability to go from melody to a full-throttle roar over a propulsive beat had purpose and fire.

“After years of silence, I arrived in South London with no lyrics and no idea if creativity was still in me. In the studio, I tore a page from an engineer’s manual and wrote my first lyrics in six years.

“Bookie called it Rose McGowan ft. Rose McGowan. And it was an honour that he named the track after the essence of me before I’d even written a word. Bookie reached across an ocean. I reached back. The rest is this track; this cultural moment. I hope it resonates with all needing a release with a dose of ascension. I’m mad for it.”

Speaking to K! in August about the meaning of the track, Bookie revealed it was partly political, and partly just a reflection on the world we’re living in today.

“I’ve never put myself forward as a political artist,” he said. “I might make political statements, and sometimes the way I act and move carries a sense of punk and political nature. But I guess I’ve never tried to pander to a community for them to accept me, I more just do what I think the earth needs to do to kind of raise awareness for certain things.”

“Yeah, like the world’s gone through a fuck ton of trauma, pretty consistently for the past few years,” agreed Rose. “And I think right now, the power move is to stitch together the little joys and be as punk as possible, and do things for free because it makes you fucking happy, you know? Make that your job, instead of what’s paying you!”
