Yes, it might finally be happening. After more than a decade or rumour, murmurings and theorising amongst Maggots, it sounds like Slipknot will be releasing Look Outside Your Window next year. Well, according to frontman Corey Taylor anyway.
Recorded by solely by Clown, Sid Wilson, Jim Root and Corey during the sessions for 2008's All Hope Is Gone, from what we understand the secretive LP is much weirder, esoteric and more experimental than anything the four men have put their name to. And yet it has remained firmly locked in the 'Knot vault all this time.
However, in an interview with NME, Corey has shed some light on when we might see the fabled record see the light of day – and why the delay might technically be his fault.
"I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, 'One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting shit out, which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!'" he laughs. "I was like, 'Fuck dude, why didn’t you tell me?' He says, ‘Fuck, Taylor – you just got too much shit!’
"It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in, and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that.
"I think it’s going to be next year – finally, man!"
There you go. Straight from the Great Big Mouth. Of course, back in 2020 we were told the record would come during the We Are Not Your Kind album cycle, and earlier this year Clown teased it would potentially be coming soon, so plans may change again. But we cannot wait to hear it!
