Album review: HOKKA – Via Misera IV
Former Blind Channel vocalist Joel Hokka teams up with The Rasmus axeman on brooding, goth-metal-tinged debut under his own name.
Finnish band HOKKA – comprised of Joel Hokka, Pauli Rantasalmi and Jimi Aslak – will drop their debut full-length in April.
Joel Hokka’s new band HOKKA have announced their debut album, Via Miseria IV.
Joined by guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi and drummer Jimi Aslak, the rising trio will unleash their first full-length on April 24 via Nuclear Blast Records.
As well as releasing previous tracks In The Darkness and Death By Cupid’s Arrow, today they drop third new single Heart Said No.
“Big boys don’t cry – except when writing songs like this,” says Joel. “Heart Said No was the first song I ever wrote with tears in my eyes – and I wasn’t the only one in the band. The song is a raw and authentic deep dive into self-reflection, shaped by minds steeped in melancholy.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce that our first album, Via Miseria IV, will be released on April 24.”
