Having taken the track to the final of Portugal’s Eurovision qualifying contest Festival da Canção, HENKA is streaming the “raw explosion of anger” that is I Wanna Destroy U.

Despite not making it through to this year’s Eurovision – even though she received a record-breaking number of votes from the Portuguese public – HENKA has just unveiled an official single version of her killer qualifying effort, I Wanna Destroy U.

The rising artist – real name Cat Pereira – brought the track to March’s competition Festival da Canção, though she lost out to NAPA for the chance to take it to the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in May. However, it’s by no means the last we’re going to be hearing from her…

HENKA says that I Wanna Destroy U is “the raw explosion of anger that has been building up – years of repressed frustration from watching injustice go unchallenged. It’s a response to a world where a man’s anger is seen as power, while a woman’s is labelled as insanity. This song breaks that silence.”
