Hayley Williams Honours Ruth Bader Ginsburg With Acoustic Performance

Paramore's Hayley Williams has paid tribute to the late Supreme Court judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg by performing Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris from her debut solo album Petals For Armor.

Hayley joined Kathleen Hanna, Michael Stipe, Phoebe Bridgers and more for an online event to highlight RBG's wish that her vacancy on the Supreme Court is not filled before the Presidential inauguration in January 2021.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away on 18 September aged 87 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. She had served on the Supreme Court since 1993, known as a generally moderate consensus-builder.

Hayley devoted the song to the women in her own family who have overcome domestic violence and sexual abuse, saying, "I want to send my heart out, and my deepest respect and gratitude to anyone who fights for the dignity and the honour of victims of sexual and domestic violence."

Earlier this year, Hayley shared images of handwritten lyrics to the song as part of International Women's Day, honouring her "personal journey though femininity; with its many facets, and in honour of the feminine wonder that connects literally everyone and everything".

Ginsburg's request, which came shortly before her death, was in response to news that Republicans intended to fill her seat with a nominee selected by Donald Trump, pushing the court towards a conservative majority.
