Adam Schlesinger, bassist and songwriter for Fountains Of Wayne, has died from coronavirus complications
Fountains Of Wayne bassist and songwriter Adam Schlesinger (pictured second from the right) has died at the age of 52 due to complications related to coronavirus.
According to Rolling Stone, Schlesinger was hospitalised last month with COVID-19 and placed on a ventilator, which left him heavily sedated.
Yesterday it was reported that his condition was improving following speculation he was in a coma, but unfortunately, the musician passed away on Wednesday (April 1) morning.
Adam co-founded Fountains Of Wayne in 1995 and wrote the vast majority of their five albums – including their 2003 landmark hit Stacy's Mom. He was also a member of the bands Ivy and Tinted Windows, featuring James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins.
As well as his contributions to the world of rock, Adam was an accomplished songwriter for both theatre and Hollywood movies – winning three Emmys and a GRAMMY. He also earned an Oscar nomination for the title-track to the 1996 Tom Hanks film That Thing That You Do.
Kerrang! would like to extend our condolences to Adam Schlesinger's family and his friends.
