Foo Fighters cancel appearance at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival
Jack White and Greta Van Fleet have joined this weekend’s Soundside event in place of Foo Fighters, who have cancelled last-minute.
New 9:30 Club replica the Atlantis has announced its inaugural run of shows – with Foo Fighters kicking things off, and the likes of Joan Jett, the Pixies and more also playing over the coming months.
As of next month Foo Fighters will be back on the road once again, following the devastating loss of Taylor Hawkins last year. And they’ve got a mixture of dates coming up – from massive festivals, to a newly-announced 450-capacity headliner in Washington, D.C.
The rock legends join the likes of Joan Jett and the Pixies who will be playing the inaugural run of shows at new venue the Atlantis – which is a replica of the city’s original 9:30 Club, and has been built next door. This first lot of gigs – which will kick off with Foo Fighters on May 30 – celebrates the 9:30 Club’s 44th anniversary, and as such tickets will only cost $44.
You can imagine it’s gonna be pretty damn popular, so the Atlantis are implementing a system to deter scalpers: “This is similar to the ticketing model recently used by Pearl Jam and Jack White for their lottery-style artist presales,” they explain. “Submitting a ticket request allows fans the opportunity to purchase tickets without competing in a first-come, first-served ticket on-sale.”
