Album review: FIDLAR – SURVIVING THE DREAM
LA punks FIDLAR deal in chaos and contemplation on fourth album, SURVIVING THE DREAM.
'Well I’m cracking one open with the boys…'
Ahead of the release of one of the best albums of 2019 (trust us), FIDLAR have unveiled a brand-new single, By Myself.
The song was premiered as Annie Mac's Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1, and also comes alongside the news that the LA mob will be performing a surprise headline show at London's Heaven on January 31.
Of the inspiration behind By Myself, lead singer/guitarist Zac Carper explains matter-of-factly: "I called up all my homies to have a drink with me and no-one showed up. What a bunch of kooks."
Meanwhile, of FIDLAR's new record Almost Free as a whole, Zac continues: "A lot of the vibe was, 'Well, why can't we do that? Why can't we have horns? Why can't we have key changes? Why can't we have a harmonica loop?' It was about taking the ceiling off. Having it be limitless. Ain't no rules."
Check out the ace star-studded video for By Myself below.
Almost Free drops on January 25 via Mom + Pop Records. Catch FIDLAR headlining Heaven on January 31.
Don't forget to pick up this week's issue of Kerrang! for a huge new feature with the band. The mag looks like this…
