Fans have already probably cried a whole bunch over Fall Out Boy’s
incredible recent album So Much (For) Stardust – and now the band are
joining in on the weepy action with a new vinyl version of the record made with
the band’s own tears.
So Much (For) Stardust is the first-ever release on what they’re
cleverly dubbing ‘Crynyl’, which is made by gathering “tear samples using
sterile collection kits” and then diluting these drops “into a sonically-optimised
solution” before sealing them into each album “using proprietary Crynylseal
technology”.
A brief statement unveiling Crynyl explains: “Music is more than
just sound waves. It’s passion, struggle and emotion. That’s why we developed a
new kind of record: one that contains the artists’ actual tears. When you
listen to a Crynyl release, you’re not just listening to what the artist played,
you’re feeling what they felt.”
FOB’s first Crynyl not only includes the ‘tear-filled LP’, but
it also comes with a built-in tissue dispenser. Oh yeah, and because this is
Pete Wentz we’re talking about, they’ve warned that it ‘may contain eyeliner
traces’.
Sadly only 50 copies were made and have already sold out, but
the band promise they will also be “giving a few away soon”.
