Exciting news! Todd Phillips has confirmed that the Joker sequel is in the works – and it's the same name as Fall Out Boy's misunderstood fourth record, Folie à Deux.
Joker: Folie à Deux was announced by the director in an Instagram post on Tuesday evening, which teased a script written by Todd and Scott Silver, as well as lead actor Joaquin Phoenix having a smoke and reading it. Nothing else has been announced, but naturally Fall Out Boy began trending online soon after the reveal, as emos everywhere enjoyed the surprise crossover (hey, maybe Todd is actually a massive fan of pre-hiatus FOB). Given singer Patrick Stump's soundtrack work, can we make this a proper thing?!
Of course, Fall Out Boy listeners will know that the title Folie à Deux means a madness shared by two, and the implications are pretty interesting when it comes to the plot for the next Joker film…
