Album review: Enforced – A Leap Into The Dark
Virginia’s rising thrash kings Enforced keep pedal to the metal excellent new EP A Leap Into The Dark.
Exclusive: The new video by Richmond's Enforced shows the lead-up to your nightmare.
For Enforced, staying true to their prime directive is important. At The Walls, the latest album by he Richmond, Virginia-based quintet, is a tireless slab of powerful, hardcore-influenced death metal that bristles with convincing rage and underground acidity. That genuine vibe has earned them a place of respect next to modern extremists like Gatecreeper and Power Trip; to sell out or try for a radio rock hit is the last thing on this sonic juggernaut's mind.

The band's latest video, Skinned Alive, operates on that principle: give the maniacs what they want. But what Enforced get is that horror isn't all blood and guts. Instead, the band give you the chilling build-up to the unholy moment, showing the calculating apparatus behind the crime scene. It's a quick and brutal depiction of evil by a band who make every second count.
“The concept of the music video storyline was an amalgamation of ideas and thoughts between myself and Alex (Bishop, drums)," says guitarist Zach Monahan. "[Director] Dan Wagner was smooth and easy to work with. We gave him barely any notes and he executed it perfectly. He orchestrated the ending seamlessly, which I was worried about at first.”
“Huge thank you to Dan Wagner, Jason Burhans, and Brandon Graig," says vocalist Knox Colby. "It was such a fun video to make and flesh out with the band and Dan. A highlight of mine (Knox), was getting slammed in the back of an El Camino while in a body bag. The video being shot at night/dark lighting made everything flow together better and didn’t required us to have a very staunch narrative story line.”
