Dinosaur Pile-Up have just unveiled a brand-new single and video, Sick Of Being Down.

Written following frontman Matt Bigland’s hospitalisation and battle with ulcerative colitis, the track is “essentially a post-traumatic existential breakdown articulated as a three-minute garage punk rock song,” he explains. “Trying to readjust myself to life after hospital was a really confusing journey. I felt conflicted about myself. What I liked and what I didn’t. What I was, what I wasn’t. All my priorities had changed; my ‘place’ in the world felt different, and that was a jarring feeling to navigate.

“I was experimenting with weed again to see if I could balance my mental state a little better, and one day, I was wondering if I was in a cycle of kind of self-fulfilling cause and effect; I’m sick of being down when I’m high, ’cause I’m high when I’m sick of being down.”

Sick Of Being Down is taken from DPU’s new album I’ve Felt Better, which is due out on August 22 via Mascot Records. Watch the video now:
