The music world united last night to pay tribute to Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister at his memorial service in LA. Family, friends and some of the world’s best-known rockstars were all in attendance to send the Motörhead frontman on his final journey.
The service, which took place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles, was hosted by manager Todd Singerman. Lemmy’s son Paul Inder was the first to speak, and reflected upon a life with a rock’n’roll dad, and the sacred bond the two shared.
As well as Lemmy’s family, faces from the rock and metal community were in attendance to remember a man who influenced them as musicians and people. Leading up the tributes was Foo Fighters and fellow Probot bandmate Dave Grohl, who described Lemmy as his hero. The likes of Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich, Slash, Rob Halford and Matt Sorum also all took to the podium to read their fondest memories of the one-of-a-kind legend.
The entire service was live-streamed through the official Motörhead YouTube channel, and is now available to watch back. View the ceremony below, and leave your tributes in the comments.
