Hear the emo kingpins’ new song Here’s To Moving On now…
Almost four years on from 2018’s Crooked Shadows album, Dashboard Confessional have announced that the follow-up, All The Truth That I Can Tell, will be released on February 25, 2022.
Describing how in recent years he was beginning to wonder if he had anything left to give, mainman Chris Carrabba eventually rediscovered his muse and began the creative process, only for it to almost be derailed again by a near-fatal motorbike accident in the summer of 2020. Drawing on the experiences and subsequent emotions, even for a man as open as the emo icon, it’s added a depth of emotion to the album that can’t be ignored.
“Honesty was at the heart of the writing process, at the heart of the recording process, and at the heart of this collection of songs,” he says. “I had the rare opportunity to be unflinchingly honest. But I think I would have thought in the early days that that would be commonplace. Now, I realize it’s some kind of cycle within your life and there’s great personal reward in accepting that.”
The first look at the album, the uplifting Here’s To Moving On is available now. In it, Chris addresses his challenges, and how he’s kept on going.
“I think in this song I find myself understanding what brought me to the mat and what it takes to get up off the mat,” says DC founder, frontman, and songwriter Chris Carrabba. “Sometimes what brought you to the mat are outside forces and sometimes it’s you, yourself. Or it can be all those things. But it does seem the only thing that gets you up off the mat isn’t outside forces – it’s always you.”
