Clown on Slipknot’s year ahead: “We got a new album”

Clown is looking ahead to a 2025 that includes “no complaining” and a new record – but he doesn’t mean Look Outside Your Window, which he says was “never a Slipknot album”.

Clown has shared his personal and professional plans for 2025.

Speaking to Knotfest backstage at London’s The O2 at the end of last year, the percussive mastermind reveals that his New Year’s resolution was going to be to “work on ‘no complaining’”, because he’s realised that “my expectations are never going to be met. So I need to give myself a break. It’s probably the last part of ego I need to work on.”

Going from that individual goal into something pertaining his eight other Slipknot bandmates, Clown continues: “I can just work on positive potential. We got a new album. We’re gonna start at some point. I just want to roll into that with an energy like it’s all starting again. That’s how I want to approach it.”

Interestingly, he’s clearly not referring to the much talked about Look Outside Your Window project – which was recorded by Clown, Sid Wilson, Jim Root and Corey Taylor during the All Hope Is Gone sessions – here, because he stresses that it “was never a Slipknot album. Not while it was happening, not while I’ve held onto it for 10 years, and certainly not fuckin’ when it comes out.” According to Knotfest, though, Look Outside Your Window ‘might see the light of day in the first quarter of 2025’.

As for a new Slipknot album, who knows? In May, after announcing that drummer Eloy Casagrande was joining the ranks, the band confirmed that they’d written a new song entitled Long May You Die. And the following month, Clown said that follow-up material to 2022’s The End, So Far would be coming “really soon”.
