Carpenter Brut has announced that his new album, Leather Temple, will arrive on February 27. It makes up the third and final part of the French synthwave outlaw's Leather trilogy, which began in 2018 with Leather Teeth, followed up by Leather Terror in 2022, an album that saw him collaborating once again with Ulver, Greg Puciato (Better Lovers/ex-Dillinger Escape Plan), Johannes Andersson (Tribulation) and more.

The trio of albums tell the story of anti-hero Bret Halford, a serial killer out for revenge on his enemies who have previously crossed him. Leather Temple picks things up in 2077, in a ruined world devastated by a nuclear explosion and now ruled by The Overlords. They live in neon cities, while normal people survive in the wilderness.

The capital city, Midwichpolis, is ruled by the tyrannical Iron Tusk, who's addicted to weird drug Pink Base and the idea of immortality. He also runs a Running Man-styled race every week, in which contestants have a chance to earn freedom but never actually win it.

In the slums of the city, Bret has been reconstructed as half-man, half-machine by rebel group The Horde, in the hope that his murderous tendencies can bring an end to Iron Tusk's reign of terror.

Carpenter Brut's soundtracked all this in gloriously vivid synth. Check out the title-track below.

Carpenter Brut hits London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on March 22, and returns to these shores to headline the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock on August 9.

In between, he's hitting the road in America with HEALTH.
