Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio Announce North American Co-Headlining Tour

In very different ways, Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio sum up much of the modern punk ethos. The former plays the role of the head, speaking truth to power from a place of political awareness and adding humanity to complicated issues; the latter is the heart, offering a sardonic and sometimes morbid outlook on matters of human emotion both localized and sweeping. Now, the whole identity is coming together this spring, as the two outfits have announced a co-headlining tour.

The trek will kick off this coming March in Los Angeles, head through the southwest and eventually on up the east coast, with a single Canadian show peppered in the middle. The tour ends with a run through the Rust Belt and up into Chicago and Milwaukee, which makes sense given that Chicago is Alkaline's hometown.

It's good that Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba still gets to play with his flagship band, given that he's been working his keister off in blink-182 of late. But as he told our own Mischa Pearlman in his K! Interview, Matt doesn't see his work with blink as a detriment to his work with Alkaline, and knows his bandmates have always got his back.

"Derek and Danny are my brothers," said Matt. "That’s my family right there. Doing blink has put Trio on pause for now, but nothing more. It didn’t pause our friendship – Danny would come out to blink shows and I would go to his solo shows. It’s weird to have that put on pause, but we’ve been so transparent with each other."
